The Thinking of Doing Mentality
Let's talk today about how to think and what to think because of the basic nature of our mind, the way the programming of our mind is set. We keep feeding unnecessary information into our minds. Since we are constantly thinking about something all the time, even if we want, we cannot stop the programming of our mind that is constantly being developed. So how can we train or program our mind in such a way that it focuses more on the things that are truly important to us? How can we think more about the things that actually matter?
Programming of the Mind
Our mind contains all kinds of information. So, the mind will think about anything and everything because its nature is to think, often about useless things. Do you understand? Everyone's basic nature is to act according to how their mind has been conditioned, how their programming has been done. An individual will act in life according to their conditioning and the kind of thinking they have developed. So, the mind will work according to its basic nature, which is to think about anything and everything, especially useless things because there is more useless information in the mind compared to the right kind of knowledge.
The Nature of Thoughts
So, thinking that you are having useless thoughts is not wrong, because that is the nature of the mind. You can only think about your work to a certain extent. I mean, what does it mean to think about work? It means you sit and keep thinking about it, but not necessarily just about work. You keep thinking about random things. Understand that this is how we need to bring improvement into our lives—by focusing on what is actually important.
Types of Thinking: Simple and Doing Thinking
There are two types of thinking: simple thinking and doing thinking. What is doing thinking? It’s when the thoughts we have align with our actions and how we can improve what we are doing. This is the type of thinking we need to develop. However, most of the time we are stuck in the first state of simple thinking, where we are just thinking about random things that don't actually help us, like "What does he think about me?", "Why did I do that yesterday?" These thoughts won't help us in any way.
Instead, if we think about how to improve what we are doing right now, or question why we are doing what we are currently doing, we develop a deeper understanding. Doing thinking makes sense. Do you understand? We need to focus on this second type of thinking and work hard on it, as our mind's basic nature is not geared toward this. So, we need to break this conditioning and program our mind accordingly.
Break the Conditioning
You cannot directly fight your mind. How much will you rely on your willpower to take major action? Instead, program your mind so that it acts accordingly. A wise person will know that when the mind is conditioned a certain way, it will act accordingly. The mind works this way. If you rely on your willpower to resist certain thoughts or take big actions, you won't get very far.
Smart Programming
The smart way to work is to set up a program in your mind that is aligned with your goals. For example, if you want to complete a big project, feed your mind only with information related to that project. Program your mind in such a way that there is no space left for any other thoughts. This way, your mind will automatically take action in the direction of your goals. This is the smart way of doing things.
Reprogramming Your Mind
The best way to reprogram your mind is by breaking its existing conditioning. The mind constantly gathers all sorts of information, so the more you gather information that aligns with the right direction and helps you move forward, the more your mind will work in that direction. Feed your mind with as much positive and productive information as possible. The more you feed such information, the less space there will be for other thoughts, and the mind will act accordingly.
Thank you.
