How to Deal with Uncertainty and Make Decisions in Life?
Today, we will deeply understand what uncertainty is, what actually lies at its root, and if it is indeed something real, then how can we ensure that it does not affect the decisions we make. Let's talk directly; uncertainty means not knowing whether something will happen or not. In other words, you are confused about whether things will happen or not. To truly understand this, the approach that directly emerges from uncertainty is the kind of missing clarity—basically, not knowing what the effect of what you're doing will be. And if that is the missing clarity, then this is the root cause of your suffering, your anxiety about the future, and all the problems that are troubling you. You see, it's like being in a loop. If you really look, you are not happy in the present because you are worried about the future, and you don't even know why you are doing what you are doing right now. So, if we really look at it, the biggest thing in life isn't about having too many things; it's about having a good understanding. Clarity is all about knowing exactly what you are doing and why you are doing it.
You can look at clarity from two perspectives. The general point of view is that clarity is about knowing—understanding what you did not know by filling in more information. But beyond this information, you are living in clarity. This means that on a daily basis, you are developing your understanding in such a way that clarity is becoming more natural to you. It does not require effort. Now, how do we achieve this clarity? Let's understand.
What is Clarity?
Clarity means there is an order in your mind. It means you know how you have designed your life. You can apply clarity in any area, like in business; having clarity is essential. In your personal life, clarity is necessary. In your actual life—life in the sense of everything included in your life right now—clarity is very important. Clarity means you actually know why what is happening right now is happening and why only that is happening. If you open up your mind a little, you'll understand deeply what I'm saying: that why things are as they are and why they can't be something else. Try to grasp what I'm saying. Clarity does not mean holding onto something; it's not about sticking to anything. Clarity means letting go—letting go of all the unnecessary information you've read first. Forget it, delete it from within, and only then will you be able to see what is right and what is not—what is necessary and what is not. Because there are so many things to do in the world, so many that your entire life will pass by, but can you do everything? No, right? You will have to choose and do less. When you have to make a choice, why not focus on what is relevant to us rather than what society has deemed relevant for us? If you truly understand the structure of your thoughts, you will realize that we think in the best possible way—taking decisions based on what everyone else has done. Think outside of the box. Can you think beyond the line of information you already have? No, right? So try to think outside the information that is not fed to you. Now, how will you do that? In the context of what I'm trying to say, try to understand. Let me take an example: if you are running a business and have a product, you are marketing that product. You can market it in two ways. One way is to do it like everyone else—run ads, use social media, etc. That's one way. The other way is if you figure out a method that hardly anyone is using right now, put your effort there, and almost all your reach will be achieved, almost a hundred percent if done wisely. How will you figure this out? Today, there is no shortage of information. You can directly ask from here, explain what you want to know. To understand this, it's important that the mind be free for clarity. By 'free,' I mean free from unnecessary thoughts. When I say 'thoughts,' I mean words, and words mean information. Being free from unnecessary information is necessary so that space can be created in the mind for amazing things; otherwise, where is the clarity? Linking clarity to cleanliness is not wrong; if there is cleanliness, only then can you see clearly there.
If we look at the best way to deal with uncertainty, it is missing clarity. First, develop clarity, bring an order in your mind about what you want to do in your life. Sit down and figure it out well. When it becomes clear to you what you want to do, then all your actions and thoughts align in that direction. Then, living becomes a different experience altogether. Bring relevance into the picture—not about wanting to be a cricketer or a dancer, but about something aligned with your strengths and what is actually right for you.
Now, how will you figure out what is actually right for you? Because it is missing clarity. If you look closely, uncertainty is rooted in not knowing whether what you are doing is right or not. So, how will you figure out if what you are doing is actually right? It is seen from within, according to yourself. How capable are you in analyzing everything accurately? You look at what you're doing, your probability of being successful in it, and also your probability of being unsuccessful. You see all these things from both sides. Achieve clarity, work on it deeply, practice daily to develop this readiness.
So, how will you achieve clarity? First, remove unnecessary information from your mind. And how will you remove it? By becoming aware that your mind is filled with a lot of unnecessary information and not every thought is useful to you. When you become aware of your thoughts, you can choose up to a point which unnecessary information to remove. The information that remains will be the useful one, then use it wisely—see where it will be useful to you. When you plan everything in your life well—what you are, what you want to do, whether you want it or not, and what is right for you—because wanting is a very confusing word. What if what you actually want is not right for you? For example, if you want to be a cricketer, does that mean you will become one? What is the probability of you becoming a cricketer? It's not like that, right? You analyze everything accurately and then come to a well-informed decision. That's why you need daily practice to build clarity. First, remove unnecessary information from your mind, then gradually work on it. Then, solve problems—practice critical thinking and deep understanding. Try to see things clearly, bring order to your mind. When all this is achieved, clarity about 'what'—knowing why you are doing what you are doing—will also resolve uncertainty.
That's all for now. Thank you.
