Listen, only talk to someone as much as necessary, meaning only within your limit. Don’t say anything that goes over the limit.

 


Once we get caught up in conversations, we start saying things without thinking, and we just keep talking and talking without stopping. We don't even take a moment to pause and think about the images we are creating in the other person's mind with what we're saying. Do you understand what I’m saying? It means we are so involved in talking because talking also gives a kind of thrill, a release. But actually, not everything needs to be shared with everyone. Some things should be kept hidden, and the right things should be said at the right time. Not every card needs to be revealed; some cards should be kept for later in life.

But our problem is that we just keep talking and talking without listening or understanding. The problem is we get a thrill from talking, which is the real issue if you understand. We need to understand that whatever we are saying, the other person is listening carefully and creating an imagination or a picture in their mind about what we are saying. But that picture is not always accurate. They might take it in a way that will bother them, and when it keeps coming to their mind repeatedly, they will discuss it with you. So, the thing you shared to lighten your mind will not go far; it will come back to you. And logically, there is no point in sharing everything. People say that sharing problems lightens the mind, but what will happen by lightening the mind? Will it solve your problem? I am asking you, by sharing your problem with someone else, will your problem get solved? If yes, then share it; if not, then there’s no point in talking about it. You will create pressure in the other person’s mind about anything, and the problem will return to you. Instead, calmly and peacefully think and understand what the problem is. But the truth is, meaningful conversations last only 15 minutes, and that's why we talk valuable things. The more we talk to someone, the more emotionally attached we become. And most people misunderstand this attachment as love, which becomes the root of conflicts. People get stuck in this thinking that attachment is love. The end goal of attachment is suffering; you won’t find happiness if you are attached to someone or something.

Get yourself out of this world of attachment. I’m not saying you shouldn’t talk or share anything with anyone. Just talk to people about necessary things, be objective. I’m not saying to be 100% like this, but you should have some logic in your mind about what you are saying and why. Understand, because saying unnecessary things will cause you problems. It’s essential to have control over what you say. You might not understand this now, but it’s taught through practice. Everything is done through words, and words are thoughts. So, if you keep talking, you are developing a way of thinking in your mind, forcing yourself to think in a particular direction, which is not beneficial.

I’m simply saying, when you talk, use logic. Bring a bit of maturity in your mind about what to say and what not to say, and how much to say to someone. Set a limit, a boundary in your mind for yourself, not for the other person. Decide that you will only say this much and nothing more about yourself. For example, if you have an old friend, will you discuss your family problems with them? What logic is this? If you genuinely want a solution to your problem, discuss it with your family, in peace. Or discuss it with yourself. A friend can’t always help you with suggestions. Everyone has their own life. If your motive is just to gossip and pass time, then sure, sit and talk. It’s your choice. I’m just talking about having a sense of logic and maturity in your mind, to set a boundary for how much to talk and when to stop.
